东山村属蕉城镇，辖15个村民小组，村情材料载有464户、1399人，总面积4.905平方千米，主要经济作物有龙眼和沙田柚。村名与湖沟以东的山林有关。[1]
地名由来与沿革[edit]
相传湖沟是蕉岭较早有人聚居之处，湖沟以东山林茂密，因此叫东山。[1]
此名民国十年（1921年）仍在用，当时归兴福乡，1950年也如此。1958年改称生产大队，1983年在兴福区下立乡，其后改作村委会，一度称管理区，1999年起又称东山村委会。2004年兴福镇撤销，东山村随之划归蕉城镇。[1]
经济[edit]
耕地约147.80亩，作物有龙眼、水稻、沙田柚和蔬菜；当年村特色经济收入321.7万元，农村经济总收入965万元。[1]
