红星社区属广东省佛山市顺德区容桂街道，位于街道中心城区，面积约3平方千米，原名善坦，1968年更名红星[1][3]。居委会辖6个居民组和1个股份合作社[2]。

历史沿革[edit]

1950年时属外村乡；1958年为外村大队，1961年另立善坦大队，1968年改叫红星大队；1983年改乡，1987年改村，1989年称红星管理区；1998年管理区撤销，改设村委会。2001年红星村委会与外村居民小组合并，称红星居委会[1]。

地名由来[edit]

原名善坦，1968年易名红星，寓“革命”之意[3]。

人口与经济[edit]

村情说，辖区有3900多户住户，户籍居民13000多人（农业人口约2000，内含股民1559名），外来人口约9000；党总支辖9个支部，党员406人[2]。2010年起红星是容桂街道政社分离改革试点之一，4月27日行政服务中心挂牌。2013年，股份社收入1008万元，资产办经营收入160万元，人均分得股红4093元[2]。
