桂洲社区属广东省佛山市顺德区容桂街道，坐落在街道中心城区，面积约0.7平方千米，红旗、四基、幸福、红星四个社区环绕其侧[1]。社区沿用旧桂洲的地名；桂洲与容奇两镇2000年合并后，便是今天的容桂[1][3]。
历史沿革[edit]
据社区资料，1958年10月起约半年间，这里归容桂人民公社，叫城镇桂洲办事处；翌年5月，容奇与桂洲各立公社。60年代初，外村的一至三街改由桂洲镇管辖[1]。
1987年2月桂洲撤区建镇，原镇区降为桂洲镇桂洲办事处；两镇于2000年2月29日并为一体。2001年5月，外村居委会划入红星社区，幸福社区的禄安路及周边街巷则划入此处，遂定名桂洲社区居委会[1]。
地名由来[edit]
相传古时扶宁岗上生着三株桂花树，开花时香气四散，村人便称此处桂花洲；水乡河涌密布，“洲”恰是地貌特点，世代沿用，简称桂洲[1][3]。
社区概况[edit]
社区有三千多户住户，户籍人口一万一千多，另有五千多流动人口；治理上分17个网格，党委下辖14个支部，党员348名[1][2]。辖区设党群服务中心2处、综合文化服务中心1处、街心公园10个；社区还打算保护北宋熙宁五年（1072年）所建的洛阳石拱桥，并修建村史馆[2]。
