历史沿革[edit]
村情的说法是：此地先属东莞古海村，原只有三座山头，四面是海，居民以捕鱼为生，后来沙滩淤积成地，渐渐半农半渔，距今约一千年；最早迁来的是刘、董、谢三姓，之后族人聚居，分成东、南、西、北四坊[2]。明代划入香山县第九区，称小黄圃乡；1958年10月转入顺德县，编为容桂公社第八营[2]。
此后依次改为大队、乡、管理区。1998年3月它与东升管理区合并，叫小黄圃管理区，设东坊、南联、北坊、北大、东升5个股份合作社；2000年1月改村民委员会，2001年8月改居民委员会[2]。
地名由来[edit]
地名资料称，乾隆年间此地划入香山县第九区大黄圃，因而得名小黄圃；1938年沦陷后叫靖远乡，1949年称鳌山乡，1958年10月进入顺德县容桂公社，又叫回小黄圃[3]。
人口与姓氏[edit]
村情说，社区3200多户，常住9000多人，流动者10000多人；东坊多梁、杨姓，南坊多陈、岑、董姓，西坊多林姓，北坊多翁、黄、刘姓[2]。
