名称与沿革[edit]
旧时这里分属大安、新围、猪行三个居民委员会，1949年淡水设三个坊，这三个委员会同属第三坊；1970年三者合并为一，定名红星居委会，寓意五星红旗。此后曾先后称红星管理区（1980年）、红星居委会（1990年），2002年3月定名红星社区居民委员会。2021年，前进社区并入红星，名称沿用。社区建于1954年的说法见于该页的概况。[1][2]
区域与人口[edit]
社区面积约0.41平方公里，下设9个居民小组。该页介绍写到常住人口8016人、约2800户，另有暂住人口3000余人。辖区内的主要街道有南门北路、南门中路、西门塘街、猪行街、崇雅路、上拨子园和下拨子园等，街巷弯曲狭窄。[2]
名胜古迹[edit]
崇雅书院旧址在崇雅路崇雅中学校内，邓仲元故居在猪行街，建于清末，为二进四合院式的泥砖瓦房，属惠阳区文物保护单位。[1]
2019年9月，红星社区被列为「2018年广东省民主法治示范村（社区）创建单位」。[1]
