新村是东港镇的行政村，在县城西南约35公里处，背倚三清山，临鳌江河。博雅地名网记全村3070人、505户，未注明统计年份。[1]

地名由来[edit]

早先村中有黄氏居住，村名黄厝寮。后来谢氏迁入，黄氏迁走，谢氏因在新置的地上立村，取名新村。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

1949年以后，此地先属葵潭区新湖乡，1953年归惠来第四区。1958年起归鳌江公社，随即称新村大队；1959年划入葵潭农场，1962年又回鳌江公社。[2]

1973年东港设公社，仍为新村大队；1983年为新村乡政府，1987年改为村委会，1989年设管理区，1999年又为村委会。[2]

全村耕地380亩，其中水田340亩、旱园40亩；山地1680亩，其中水果800亩。村民收入以种植水稻、冬瓜、荔枝和外出务工为主，未注明统计年份。[1]
