新塘镇是广东省潮州市饶平县下辖的乡镇，位于县域西北部，镇人民政府驻新塘圩，辖14个行政村 [1][3]。境内耕地少于山地，水果和茶叶是主要的产出，其中「深坑茶」远销香港、泰国和东南亚一带 [2]。

历史沿革[edit]

明清两代，此地属饶平县弦歌都下饶堡的辖地，民国时期分属第三区、附城区等 [1]。新中国成立后建制变动频繁：据博雅地名网，1951年此地为县第三区的辖地，1956年置新塘乡，1958年归入三饶公社，1975年析出另立新塘公社，1983年改为区建制，1986年改设乡，1994年设镇 [1]。维基百科则写作1975年析出建乡、1993年置镇，两说在建镇年份上相差一年 [4]。

地名由来：据博雅地名网，明末圩集设于新塘洋地，故名新塘圩，镇人民政府即驻于此 [1]。

新塘镇位于饶平县西北部，总面积约80平方公里，耕地面积0.9万亩，山地面积8.6万亩 [1][2]。维基百科称镇西为待诏山，北为大尖山，中部是山间小盆地 [4]。连接闽粤的主干线丰柏公路穿越全境 [2]。

博雅地名网概况页列出水果种植面积10500亩、产量1700吨，全镇为饶平县青梅、橄榄等水果产地之一；茶叶种植面积5200亩，年产510吨，「深坑茶」远销香港、泰国和东南亚一带 [2]。以上数字均未注年份。
