鳌头村是广东省肇庆市高要区活道镇辖下的行政村，在镇政府驻地东南方，距镇政府驻地约12公里[1]。

地理与人口[edit]

据博雅地名网所载村情，全村面积约7.3平方千米，耕地1009亩、山地9958亩，设1个村民小组，总人口1137人。[1]

经济[edit]

传统产业是农业，果蔗、沙葛、粉葛较出名，林业以桉树、杉等建筑用材为主。东面毗邻佛山市高明区更合镇，村内设有鳌头工业园。[1]

文化[edit]

2023年4月名列2022年度广东省乡村治理示范村创建单位；2026年1月获评广东省第二批「百千万工程」典型村。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

建国前该地隶高要县二区，1952年划入六区。1955年归莲塘区；到1958年，新村、大迳、芝糊瑯、鳌头四个自然村合组胜利大队，隶新桥公社；1959年起转隶活道公社，名称不变，仍叫胜利大队；1978年该大队析出新村、大迳、鳌头三个大队；至1983年撤大队设乡，1987年撤乡设村民委员会，1989年鳌头改设管理区，1998年恢复村民委员会。[2]

名胜古迹[edit]

村内集中了几处解放战争和抗日战争时期的遗迹。世德堂又称德刚伍公祠，1938年落成，1944年7月游击队在此成立鳌头抗日自卫队，队长伍鉴衡，队员30多人；其后列为县（市）级文物保护单位[3]。首届高要县人民政府成立原址原是祠堂，建筑面积355平方米，高要县首届人民政府于1949年5月25日设立于此[3]。村东的273省道旁立有鳌头革命烈士纪念碑；村南的遗经书房始建于清末，1998年重建，1946年中共鳌头村支部在此一带成立，被称为解放战争时期高要最早的党支部[3]。
