朝阳社区属广东省佛山市顺德区容桂街道，居街道中部，面积约0.8平方千米；东界凤祥南路与振华大道，南界文华路与环塘路，西至容桂大道北，北到容奇大道中[1][2]。早在明万历年间这里就有北潮圩，如今以商业为主[1][2]。

历史沿革[edit]

明万历年间（村情注为1620年）形成北潮圩，清代设北潮坊；1950年有北潮区，1966年更名朝阳街道，1989年称朝阳街道办事处，2000年12月理顺为朝阳居民委员会，至今未变[1]。

地名由来[edit]

《广东省顺德市地名志》称，名字取自“葵花朝阳”[3]。

人口与商业[edit]

村情说，居民常住12000多人、流动者约4000多人，共10个居民小组；约一成房屋是商住高层，其余多是低层平房。辖区有大型商贸10家，如百佳华商业城、宏骏商业广场、信德商业城等，中小商贸300多家，另有全日制小学1所、幼儿园5所[2]。
