南坑村的村名取自流经村南的安仁溪，溪在村之南侧，故称“南坑”。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

1153年，村民由闽侯县朱墓迁居此地，据博雅地名网所载。[1]

宋代属奉政乡安仁里，元代属二十二都的过宅、黄墓村，清代为怀德乡南宅村，民国时属下洋乡新南保。[2]

解放后，此地1954年前隶属第二区南宅乡，之后归东桥区南宅乡。1956年并入东桥乡，1958年设火箭公社南坑大队，1959年改隶东桥公社。1963年一度分为南坑、上南坑两个大队，1964年再合为南坑大队。1984年，东桥乡政府设立，南坑成为该乡属下的村民委员会。[2]

2020年2月，南坑村入选「福建省第三批省级传统村落」名单。[1]

2023年12月，福建省爱卫办公示拟命名的卫生村名单列入东桥镇南坑村；2024年1月，村子获评2023年福建省卫生村。[3][1]
