南坑村位于大埔县大麻镇境内，属河东片，在梅州市、广东省的行政区划中是大麻镇所辖的一个村。村落沿一条自北向南的大坑展开，村南山势较高、泉眼多，因而得名。[1]
历史沿革[edit]
清嘉庆年间（1796年至1820年），何氏从弓州迁入村中。1998年改设村民委员会，此前1988年改称管理区，1986年冬设村委会，1983年12月复为南坑乡，1978年3月改隶恭洲公社，1958年人民公社化时成为大麻公社的南坑生产大队，1957年并入恭洲乡，1952年为南坑乡，1949年属麻东乡，民国三十二年（1943年）前后属大麻区恭洲乡，明代属大埔县大麻社弓洲村。[2]
人口与经济[edit]
