1950年设行政村，1951年称赤伦乡，1959年为大队；1983年复称乡，1986年设村委会，1989年称管理区，1999年为村民委员会。[1]

2019年9月，赤伦村列入「2018年广东省“民主法治示范村（社区）”创建单位名单」。[1]
