新村是大南山街道下辖的行政村，原为三坑下库库区的移民村。村内耕地不多，村民多外出务工，集体收入主要依靠政策性拨款。[1]

2019年9月，本村入选「2018年广东省民主法治示范村（社区）创建单位」名单。[1]
