新村社区位于揭西县县城南部，是横江水库移民社区，属河婆街道下辖的9个社区之一[1]。

历史沿革[edit]

1958年10月修建横江水库时，库区内的居民迁到这一带安置。1984年2月，此地设立河婆新村居民委员会，此名一直沿用至今[1]。

社区荣誉[edit]

2019年9月，新村社区列入「2018年广东省民主法治示范村（社区）」创建单位名单[1]。
