横河社区是博罗县横河镇的镇中心区，居民委员会设在镇政府所在地一带。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

据博雅地名网所载地名资料，横河一名的来历是：南宋末年（约1210年），曾、刘、谭三姓从广东兴宁和江西等地迁来，分别住在屯仔、刘学、沙上等村，河水从这三村旁边横着流过，于是得名。[1]至于社区的建制，1987年老圩分出之后，它一直是横河社区居民委员会；此前1984年老圩曾并入，当年成立横河镇人民政府；再往前，1980至1983年已称横河社区，而1958年叫作横河圩镇大队。[1]

荣誉[edit]

2019年9月，横河社区列入2018年广东省「民主法治示范村（社区）」创建单位名单。[1]
