嶂背畲族村是横河镇的行政村，也是博罗县仅有的一个少数民族行政村，下辖新屋、大板田、新塘3个自然村。[2]
历史沿革[edit]
据博雅地名网，元代初年蓝、雷两姓从河南澶州府迁来，人数不多，因担心受汉人欺凌，便躲进山嶂的背后居住，村名由此而来。[1]百度百科则记作畲族先祖于明洪武二十九年（1396年）迁到此地。[2]两说年代不同，这里并存。行政建制上，它自1999年3月起为嶂背村民委员会，之前依次是横河镇嶂背管理区（1986年1月）、横河区嶂背乡（1983年11月）；1958年10月归入横河公社，新中国成立后属第四区横河乡，民国时期属智勇乡。[1]
人口民族[edit]
百度百科记该村有户籍人口566人，村域面积约4.22平方千米，蓝、雷两姓居多。[2]村里仍说畲语，该条目称此处是畲语遗存保存最好、人口最集中之地；村中还建有惠州市畲族文化传承馆。[2]
荣誉[edit]
嶂背村于2021年12月获广东省卫生村称号，2022年1月成为乡村治理示范村创建单位（2021年度），2026年1月又入选广东省第二批「百千万工程」典型村。[1]
