西群村是横河镇西部的行政村，村名即由其在横河以西而来。[1]
历史沿革[edit]
1999年起，这里称西群村民委员会；在这之前，1986年1月为横河镇西群管理区，1983年11月恢复区乡建制后属横河区，1979年属横河人民公社，1958年10月政社合一，1955年10月则是成立区人民政府、归横河区公所的时期。民国年间，它归第九区九保管辖。[1]
经济与荣誉[edit]
西群村以三红蜜柚入选2021年9月公布的第二批广东省「一村一品、一镇一业」专业村。它列入国家林业和草原局2019年12月公布的第二批国家森林乡村，并在2026年1月被评为广东省第二批「百千万工程」典型村。[1]
