白沙社区在吴阳镇西南面，辖朱屋、刘屋、邱屋三条自然村，2004年由白沙村委会改设为居民委员会。[1]

地名由来[edit]

据博雅地名网，鉴江支流流经此地，水势回旋成深湾，村后白象岭一带流沙泛白，因此得名白沙。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

白沙在1952年为行政村，之后依次改为小乡（1957年）、大队（1958年），1961年归吴阳小公社，1964年重设大队；1983年起为乡人民政府，1987年至1999年称管理区，1999年为村委会；2004年分出拱门村后，才改设居委会。[1]

人口经济[edit]

白沙有460多户、2550人，耕地650亩（水田535亩），种水稻、番薯、花生、香蕉等，收入主要来自外出做建筑和经商。二十世纪六七十年代，它曾是广东省农业学大寨的先进典型。[2]

荣誉[edit]

2019年9月，白沙社区被列为「2018年广东省民主法治示范村（社区）创建单位」；2022年8月被确定为「2022年广东省民主法治示范村（社区）创建单位」；2023年11月入选「广东百千万工程首批典型县镇村」。[1]
