地名由来[edit]
村名取桥北村的“桥”字和大井头村的“头”字合成。[1]
人口经济[edit]
面积7.5平方公里，总人口5330人。近年在林带养鸡、种香蕉之外，办起蔬菜种植和水产养殖两个基地。[1]
历史沿革[edit]
桥头1952年为行政村，1958年称大队，1961年归芷寮小公社，1964年重设大队。1983年改乡委会，1987年称管区，1999年改村委会。[1]
名胜古迹[edit]
文天祥纪念馆在文屋村，2000年建成，由文天祥后裔及港澳宗亲捐资兴建，是祠堂式仿古建筑，占地约2000平方米，馆前有丹心阁、正气亭。文屋村近2000人，据说由文天祥在江西的故居一带迁来，始祖是文天祥的曾孙。[2]芷寮港遗址在桥头村与芷寮村交界处。[3]
荣誉[edit]
2019年9月被列为「2018年广东省民主法治示范村（社区）创建单位」；2026年3月被认定为「广东省第三批百千万工程典型村镇」。[1]
