新兴社区在里水镇的中心城区，辖区面积约1.8平方千米，由新天地广场、星辉苑、钻石苑、华苑等住宅小区组成，设新兴、富寿、中隅三个居民小组[1]。

2005年南海区域调整，城区办事处的管辖范围并入新兴社区，居委会因此成立；2008年被评为广东省「六好」平安和谐社区[1]。

设立[edit]

博雅地名网另有一说：新兴社区于2011年3月22日由南海区政府批复设立（文号「南府复〔2011〕286号」），与上述2005年成立居委会的说法不一致[1]。
