「南金」一名取「南国之金」之意，同时是村民的自治组织；英明社区的资料也说，两地曾合称南畔村。[1]
地理环境[edit]
村界东北接水南社区，南接英明社区，西与石江社区相邻。[2]
经济[edit]
村里有工商企业250多家，以家具、五金为主；集体收入来自物业出租和鱼塘承包款。[2]
文化[edit]
村内办有南畔华光小学和南畔幼儿园，设社区卫生服务中心和10个篮球场；得过广东省卫生村、佛山市生态示范村、广东岭南名村等称号。[2]
