黄竹坑设大队始于1973年，1987年改设村民委员会，1989年10月称管理区，1999年4月定名黄竹坑村。[1]2019年9月，该村列入「2018年广东省“民主法治示范村（社区）”创建单位名单」。[1]街道概况另记，2024年它与黄溪村、鸬鹚村一道入股一家养猪场项目。[2]
