东和社区属新津街道，位于陈厝合村中部，名称取原陈厝合大队东队片的“东”与老祠堂“益和社”的“和”。[1]

辖区东接佳和，南到安和街，西至庐山路，北达黄河路，另有少量飞地夹在金和、南和之间。居民1212人，其中党员40名，多数人家有自建楼房，外来人口不少；居委办公楼原是破旧危房，后改建为新楼。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

清代为澄海县蓬洲都辖地，民国属该县第三区。1953年设下蓬区陈厝合乡，之后随大队、公社的调整多次改隶。1992年陈厝合划归新津街道；1993年撤村建居，原村分设为6个居委会，本社区是其一。2002年起称社区居民委员会。[2]
