东龙社区属新津街道，原辛厝寮村的一部分，名称由“六社”之东社取“东”字，与龙湖的“龙”字合成。[1]

辛厝寮旧分纪社、辛社、东社、西社、南社、北社，社区位于东社一带，以“东”字加龙湖区的“龙”字命名。[1]
历史沿革[edit]
清代为澄海县蓬洲都辖地，民国属该县第三区。1953年设下蓬区辛厝寮乡，之后随大队、公社的调整多次改隶。1992年7月，辛厝寮村划归新津街道；1994年11月村委会被撤销，原村分设为9个居委会，本社区是其一。2002年起称社区居民委员会。[2]
