东新社区属新津街道，1993年由原陈厝合村撤村建居而成，名取“东塭焕然一新”之意。[1]

这里原是陈厝合村的东合、分塭两个自然村。清雍正年间，官府令官埭纪姓人服役修堤，形成大片沙洲；乾隆年间纪、方等姓南迁建村，因在陈厝合之东，称东合村；另一部分村民在大塭田边搭棚而居，称熏塭，后叫分塭村。新中国成立初期两村合并为东塭，1993年设居委会时改称东新。[1]
辖区约0.4平方公里，东靠泰山路，西靠黄山路，南邻台商投资区，北到黄河路；本地常住495户、2334人，另有外来暂住人口约1万。[1]
历史沿革[edit]
清代为澄海县蓬洲都辖地，民国属该县第三区。1953年设下蓬区陈厝合乡，之后随大队、公社的调整多次改隶。1992年7月，陈厝合村划归新津街道；1993年5月村委会被撤销，原村分设为6个居委会，本社区是其一。2002年起称社区居民委员会。[2]
