历史沿革[edit]
东社起初属饶平县苏湾都，樟林筑寨的1556年（嘉靖三十五年）起归樟林寨，1563年苏湾都改隶澄海县。1950年，东社、北社、外园合并为生礼乡；1961年生礼生产大队析出东社，取「和睦邻村」之意改名东和。1998年9月设东和村。[3] 村名也有这个说法的版本：与北社、外园合编为生礼村时，取和睦邻村的美意。[1]
经济与姓氏[edit]
据村情介绍，全村789户、3125人，土地2929.57亩，耕地985亩（经济数字为2009年）。村里以黄、叶、朱、陈、周、郑、林、许、蓝、蔡、张等姓为主，村民从事针纺织品、五金配件和蔬菜水果种植。[2]
东和村在2020年至2022年的淘宝村名单中有名；2022年1月，它同样进入广东省2021年度乡村治理示范村的创建名单。[1]
