塘边村位于石狮市宝盖山西麓、龟湖塘东畔，是宝盖镇人民政府的所在地。[1][4]

村名取自所处的位置，村中有宋代风格的石塔和龙泉岩古迹，明代以来还是瓦窑的所在地。[2][3]

地名与古迹[edit]

村子位于龟湖塘东岸，北宋时因此取名“塘边”。[2] 村中有一处古迹名“龙泉岩”，亦称“塘边岩”，乾隆版《泉州府志》记载，宋末元初祥芝大堡的慈善家刘君辅曾捐资重修此处；现存一座宋代风格的石塔。[3]

宋代济阳蔡氏迁居这里，因村子临近龟湖塘，把龟湖叫作“龟水”，并以“龙渊”为村的雅称，蔡氏因此称“龙渊蔡氏”。[3]

姓氏与产业[edit]

明代，林氏九牧二房锦马宗支的西庵公迁居于此，成为塘边林氏的开基祖。[3] 村民利用当地土源烧制砖瓦，“塘边瓦窑”远近闻名，“瓦窑”也由此成为村中的角落地名。[3]

据2026年3月的行政村简介，村民主要从事服装小加工与五金加工，辖区有企业40余家，其中规模以上企业2家；村内住户1888户，设村民小组14个。[1]

行政沿革[edit]

元明清时期此地属二十四都，民国时属石狮龙福乡。1953年设塘边初级合作社，1956年设高级合作社，1958年改设塘边大队，1984年设立村民委员会。[2]
