塘边村位于郊尾镇西南部，东南邻枫亭镇山头村，另与染厝、伍狮、阮庄相接。村子背靠大帽山，地势自西北向东南逐级下降，海拔45米。[1]

村名的来历：村子原属园庄的慈孝里，因位置偏远称“长边”；“长”与“塘”方言同音，遂改名塘边。[1]

2024年1月，村子获评「2023年福建省卫生村」。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

明清时，此地分为塘边、乌石岭两村，属慈孝里。民国时与伍狮合为伍塘保，隶属慈孝乡。1952年3月设塘边乡，1956年6月并入庆和乡。[1]

到1958年9月，南埔自然村由染厝划给塘边，村子设为塘边大队；1984年底才改为塘边村，隶属郊尾乡，1985年3月改属郊尾镇。村下辖南埔、乌石、斜厝等八个自然村。[1]

经济[edit]

村子具有发展农业的自然条件，中华人民共和国成立后兴修水利，调整耕作制度。乌龙岭龙眼的故乡便在这里，清代乌石岭所产龙眼曾作为宫廷贡品。[1][2]

名胜古迹[edit]

新厝联络站旧址在新厝自然村。抗战结束后，林步云（曾任中共仙游地方组织负责人）下到乡间，发动进步群众，培养积极分子，设起地下联络站，意在重建仙游的党组织。[1]

塘边墓塔在斜厝自然村后山，属古建筑，为仙游县一般不可移动文物点。[1]
