东坑村位于赤锡乡境内，与莆田市接壤。[2]

历史沿革[edit]

清代村地属中和乡龙津里二十五都。[1]

1958年，东坑归梧桐公社白叶管理区，设东坑生产大队；1961年赤锡人民公社成立后，村仍为东坑生产大队；1984年起设赤锡乡东坑村委会。[1]

2016年5月，福建省人民政府认定村子为「第五批福建省历史文化名镇名村」。[1] 2017年8月，村子列入「福建省第二批省级传统村落」名录。[1]

名胜古迹[edit]

白云岩为宋代建筑，位于村子与莆田交界处，2017年列入永泰县第一批历史建筑名录。[2]

文化[edit]

村名的由来：村子原名「瓢坑」。东面有一块大岩石，岩下有一条坑，地形像一只瓢，传说古时仙公曾在此居住。后因村子位于东面溪坑之上，改名东坑。[1]
