东山村属梅州市五华县横陂镇，是该镇的一个行政村，位于镇域东北部[1]。据博雅地名网所载，全村下设13个村民小组，登记在册411户、2372人[1]。

地名由来与历史沿革[edit]

村后有一座形如马的矮山，原称马山。1960年马山与樟树村合并，改称东山。[1]

村级建制的变迁：1958年公社化时，马山村与红光村公路以东的四个组合成一个大队，各取“马”字与“东”字，定名东山大队；1967年易名为东山革命委员会，1977年恢复为东山大队，1989年叫作东山管理区，1999年易名为东山村委员会。[1]

荣誉[edit]

  • 2023年2月，东山村获「2022年度五华县文明村镇」称号。[1]
