新兴村在汤西镇西南的山区，与埔寨镇、揭西县相邻，离镇中心13公里，辖11个自然村。村名由“新石”和“南兴”两处围村各取一字合成[1][2]。

历史沿革[edit]

新兴高级社（1956年）、新兴大队（1959年）、新兴管理区（1987年）、新兴村委会（1999年）依次是它的名称；1983年3月，名称曾改为新兴大队[3]。

村情[edit]

村情介绍说，村下11个自然村，共558户，合计2938人，辖区11.15平方公里，耕地759亩，种花生、玉米[1]。2011年筹资五十多万元建成新南桥[1]。新兴村名列2019年9月公布的「2018年广东省“民主法治示范村（社区）”创建单位」[1]。
