地名由来[edit]
据说清代有彭姓人在此建城，称彭城，1953年以后改称西城[3]。
历史沿革[edit]
高级社（1956年）、西城大队（1959年后）、西城乡（1983年后）、西城管理区（1987年）、西城村委会（1999年），后一名称沿用至今[4]。
村情[edit]
村情介绍说，村下有7个自然村，878户、共4385人，是省定贫困村之一，由广州银行帮扶；辖区5.62平方公里，耕地1265亩，种香芋、蔬菜、马铃薯、稻米[1][2]。在帮扶下，村里办起十多亩的马铃薯示范种植地，并花80多万元盖了一栋1600多平方米、兼有办公、文化和商铺的大楼[2]。
名胜古迹[edit]
西岩寺始建于清乾隆年间，占地五千多平方米，为二进一横院落的四合式布局；上堂走廊墙上嵌着乾隆、道光年间的石碑四块；它在1925年到1942年间还做过丰顺县人民协会分会的会址和地下联络点[5]。
