蕉潭村在丰顺县汤西镇中部，因旧时周围水潭多、附近山上又种了许多香蕉而得名^[1]^[2]。村里以养鱼为主业，介绍称那里是梅州市最大的水产养殖基地^[1]。

历史沿革[edit]

解放初期为蕉潭乡，公社化时是汤西公社的蕉潭大队，1976年改称蕉潭乡，1984年为蕉潭管理区，1999年定名蕉潭村委会^[3]。

村情介绍说，村下12个自然村共1069户，合计4587人，辖区20.21平方公里，耕地仅906亩；作为养鱼专业村，全村八成以上农户养殖塘鱼，养殖面积800多亩，另种香芋等^[1]。村里有溜粉石矿，尚待开发；2010年修建了细坑路和君富路^[1]。
