大潮村是东岸镇下辖的行政村，属镇乡结合区。据说过去每逢大雨，山洪像潮水一样涨落，田野和村子常被淹没，村名因此而来。[1]

大潮大队原称西岸大队。1961年前由环湖大队分出西岸大队，随后又分为三吉、西岸、丹彤三个大队，1963年三吉、西岸合并，后因地名普查改称大潮大队。1983年起称乡，1986年起为农村管理区，1999年起设村民委员会。2021年12月获评「2021年广东省卫生村」。[1]
