岑山村是东岸镇下辖的行政村，属镇乡结合区。村内有一座山形似琴，原叫琴山，后来读音转为岑山，村名由此而来。[1]
岑山曾是公社下的一个管理区，统辖东坡、甘树两个大队等，后来岑山、东坡、甘树、大坡等又合成一个大队，再拆成五个；1963年岑山和大坡合并，延续岑山之名。乡、农村管理区、村民委员会的名称依次出现于1983年、1986年和1999年。[1]
2019年10月入选「2019年广东省卫生村」名录；2026年3月，岑山村被认定为「广东省第三批百千万工程典型村镇」。[1]
