大简村是东岸镇下辖的行政村，因村民委员会驻在大简村而得名。^[1]

大简最初隶属东岸公社岑山管理区的回盘大队，后曾叫大简艮垌大队，1963年由大简、银垌合成大简大队。此后依次改称乡（1983年）、农村管理区（1986年），1999年起设村民委员会。^[1]

2019年9月被列入「2018年广东省民主法治示范村（社区）创建单位」。^[1]
