旺村坡村是东岸镇下辖的行政村，村名的由来是过去村民安居乐业、人丁兴旺、钱财旺盛。[1]

它曾与谈朋、大简、回盘、梧栋一起，归在岑山管理区的回盘大队名下，之后拆成五个大队；1963年回盘、梧栋和旺村坡三队再合，成为旺村坡大队。乡、农村管理区、村民委员会的名称依次出现于1983年、1986年和1999年。[1]

2021年9月，广东省农业农村厅公布「第二批广东省一村一品、一镇一业专业村」，该村以荔枝入选；2021年12月获评「2021年广东省卫生村」；2020年12月被列入「2020年广东省民主法治示范村（社区）创建单位」。[1]
