西湖村在汕头市潮南区陇田镇的大南山北麓，村西地势低洼，雨季积水成湖，故名西湖。创村于明嘉靖年间；2020年8月入选首批广东省「一村一品、一镇一业」专业村（鳄鱼）。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

西湖创村于明嘉靖年间（1522—1566年），明、清至民国初年属潮阳县峡山都，1921年属第七区。1950年属永新乡，1958年属永安大队，1975年永安大队拆分后称西湖大队，1986年改村委会，1999年恢复现有建制。[1]

概况[edit]

全村302户，1581人，耕地300多亩，林地（含一座小型水库）90多亩；村民多靠种地，少数外出打工，集体收入不足3万元。[1] 首批「一村一品、一镇一业」专业村名单由广东省农业农村厅在2020年8月公布，西湖村凭鳄鱼养殖列入。[1]
