桃溪社区在汕头市潮南区峡山街道中部，由桃内、桃外、桃新三个自然村组成，居民以周姓为主，另有曾姓。明代大理寺卿周光镐是此地人，维基百科记他为峡山桃溪人，百度百科则写作桃溪乡人。[1][2][3]

地名与历史[edit]

明成化十九年（1483年），周氏祖先周图谿从泗水（今泗联社区和泗和村一带）迁来，村名先称“图谿”“图溪”，建国后写作“桃溪”。[1]

1950—1951年并入六和乡，1962—1983年为桃溪大队，1984年改乡，1987年设居委，2004年3月起称社区。[1]

现状[edit]

全社区1685户、7998人，社区约有耕地480亩。2009年人均收入5129元，工农业产值5155万元。居委辖区有企业约80家，行业有服装、电脑绣花、塑料制品、化妆品、五金、家电和染厂。社区内有祠堂11座。[1]
