汕尾社区在汕头市潮南区峡山街道西部，建村约五百年，旧称“汕美”，居民以李姓为主，因世代相传的烟花制作和燃放技艺，被称作“烟花之乡”。[1]
历史沿革与地名[edit]
村名取村寨依山傍水的地势，溪水（峡山大溪的支流）绕过村前。社区创村于明嘉靖六年（1527年），明、清至民国初期属潮阳县黄陇都新兴乡，1921年属潮阳县第五区。[2]
经济与社会[edit]
社区辖区面积64公顷，户籍人口428户、2630人，外来务工经商者超过两万人。李姓之外，另有林、陈等姓。区内的企业有恒芳化妆品、华隆文具、三昌制衣、秋鹿服饰等，“秋鹿”“金得利”是广东省著名商标。[1]
建于1980年代末的环美路商业街东西贯穿社区，被称为潮南区最繁华的商业街。社区曾获评广东省“六好”平安和谐社区、广东省卫生村，2022年1月又被广东省乡村振兴局确定为「2021年广东省乡村治理示范村」创建单位。[1][2]
