赤岭村在南雄市水口镇境内，位于水口镇南部，属革命老区村[1]。下辖10个自然村，分为12个村民小组，共323户、1393人；耕地2227亩，另有林地1243亩。主要作物为黄烟、水稻、花生。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

地名由来：据当地说法，村子四周都是起伏绵延的红沙岭，岭上不长树木，呈赤红之色，故取名赤岭。[2]

1954年成立赤岭初级社，1956年升格为赤岭高级社；1963年下湖、赤岭并为下湖大队；1983年起称赤岭乡，1988年称赤岭管理区，撤销管理区、设立赤岭村村民委员会，一直延续至今。[1]
