下湖村在南雄市水口镇境内，位于水口镇西南部，属革命老区村[1]。下辖7个自然村，分为7个村民小组，共257户、1061人；耕地7269.5亩，另有林地960亩，总面积约5平方千米。主要作物为黄烟、水稻、花生。[1]
历史沿革[edit]
地名由来：因地形像一口湖，村庄建在湖的下方，故称下湖。[2]
1949年设下湖农会，1954年组成下湖初级社，1956年升格为高级社，1960年成为下湖大队；1963年下湖、赤岭并为下湖大队；1983年起称下湖乡，1988年称下湖管理区，撤销管理区、设立下湖村委会，一直延续至今。[1]
