大坑村在赤水镇南段，处于九鹏溪支流的上游。村域面积约11平方千米，村民分居上大坑与下大坑两处。村中有5个生产小组，共109户、424人。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

明清时期建村，原名「肖垅坑」。因它在邻近村落中规模最大，又地处坑谷之间，遂改名大坑。[1]

1934年，村地属宁洋县第三区罗溪联保。1949年后归宁洋县第三区管辖，1955年改属第四区。1956年宁洋县撤销，村地划归漳平县双洋区赤水乡。1961年赤水公社设立后，大坑从一个大队中分出，单独设为大坑大队。1984年政社分开，村名改为赤水乡大坑村。1995年赤水撤乡建镇，村仍隶属之。[1]

大坑村于2021年11月被授予「2021年福建省卫生村」称号，授予方为福建省爱卫办。[1]

地理环境[edit]

村内耕地925亩，旱地31亩，林地12460亩。上大坑的居民住在河流右岸地势较高处，下大坑的居民住在河两旁地势较低处。[1]
