历史沿革[edit]
村名的来历，据博雅地名网所载：此地早先叫大坡，一度改称旺坡，后来因与池洞镇的旺坡重名，按谐音改作旺科。[1]
民国时期，旺科归石根堡管辖。解放后到1976年，石根、平寨、旺科合称一个大队；1977年三地各成一队，旺科生产大队由此而立。1983年改称乡，1987年设村民委员会，1999年定名旺科村民委员会，沿用至今。[1]
经济[edit]
村里主要种植水稻、马铃薯、蕃薯、木薯；特色收入来源有种植粉蕉（香蕉）[1]。
荣誉[edit]
2023年5月，广东省爱卫会将旺科村列入「2022年广东省卫生村」。2019年9月，旺科村进入「2018年广东省民主法治示范村（社区）」创建单位名单。[1]
