历史沿革[edit]
1932年称南社乡，属第六区（樟林）。1950年与观一、头冲合编为观平乡（后称观平村），1958年拆开，称南社村。[2][3] 南社是樟林港「六社」之一。[4]
经济与教育[edit]
村情介绍称，全村总人口6300人，耕地1800多亩，党员149人。村里把大部分耕地改种林檎，324国道两侧规划为工业区，发展工艺、针织服装、五金；村里集资近40万元设立助学奖学基金。2008年被汕头市评为精神文明建设文明村，并被评为计生工作先进单位。[2] 南社在2020至2022年的淘宝村名单中均有名。[1]
著名人物[edit]
陈府洲（1905—1934），革命烈士，1924年考入韩山师范学校；陈普之（1911—1950），版画家，30年代初毕业于上海美专，是鲁迅培育的第一代青年版画家之一。两人都是南社人。[5]
