历史沿革[edit]
北社早先隶属饶平县的苏湾都；樟林在嘉靖三十五年（1556年）为防海盗倭寇而筑寨，北社归入寨内。1563年（嘉靖四十二年）苏湾都划入新设的澄海县。[3] 1932年称北社乡，属第六区（樟林）。1950年，为纪念烈士周礼平，樟林分编为四个乡，北社与东社合为生礼乡；1958年拆除生礼，1961年生礼生产大队一分为二，北社一边定名北联。其后在1984年设管理区，到1998年9月才正式称北联村。[3]
周礼平曾在村中居住，并在这里从事革命活动。[2]
经济[edit]
据村情介绍，全村有1027户、3699人，土地1586亩，其中耕地1233亩（该页的经济数字截至2009年）。村民主要种植林檎和番石榴。2008年，北联被评为汕头市生态示范区。[2]
