历史沿革[edit]
这里原是海滩冲积地，长着一种海滩木本植物（红树林类），俗称糜头树，故称糜头围；《澄海县地名志》写作「棉头围」。乾隆五十六年（1791年）起有人迁居建村，以捕鱼和晒盐为生。[1][2] 嘉庆七年（1802年）在此建起54间栈房，成为一条新的商业街，村遂改称新兴街。[1][2] 1950年与塘西、月窟合为新光乡，1962年恢复原名，1998年9月设新兴街村。[3]
新兴街[edit]
关于栈房街的建造者，博雅地名网的村情页说是程洋岗蔡氏等船主，街长200多米；陈春声则据林氏谱牒，称是洋船商人林咸惠等人在乾隆末年至嘉庆初年建的货栈区，街长180多米，临港的货栈各有小码头。[2][5] 后来又续建永定楼、安平栈、藏资楼，以及大码头、墩场和东南街口的石坊，村情页称至今保存完好。[2] 新兴街现为澄海区文物保护单位，2000年7月24日公布，类型为古建筑。[4]
经济[edit]
村情介绍称，全村851户、3222人，土地1620亩，耕地1220亩（经济数字为2009年）。2019年9月，新兴街村被认定为首批「广东省文化和旅游特色村」；2021年、2022年入选淘宝村。[1][2]
