历史沿革[edit]
石头坑三面环山，山泉从石缝间流出，在村北汇成坑，因而得名；村落创于明崇祯年间（1628—1632年）。[1][2] 下南溪建于明代中叶，因上游隆都另有南溪村，为避免重名而叫下南溪，又名南溪仔，旧时以生产风炉出名。[2]
石头坑早年隶饶平县隆眼城都，新中国成立后归澄海县隆都区；它与龙潭、西洋、下南溪先后组成西洋乡（1953年）和下西乡（1984年）；1986年11月撤区置镇，独立设村并转属东里镇，1998年9月设石头坑村。[3]
经济[edit]
村情介绍称，全村378户、1471人，姓氏以余、高、纪为主，土地1073.10亩，耕地416.80亩，种植水稻、地爪、花生和蔬果，近年加工业、小作坊增多。[2]
