两个自然村[edit]
上宅在练江堤边，明嘉靖年间（1522—1566年）立寨，祖先从湖西分出，全村姓林，历史上有制作铁器的手艺。[1]北沟同样在嘉靖年间立寨，因村北有一条水沟而得名，村民姓马、陈，马氏从和平里美迁来，陈氏从普宁桥柱迁来，传统手艺是制作风炉。[1]另有记载称上宅、北沟的马氏祖先自和平镇里美村迁居。[1]
上宅1050人183户，北沟835人141户；上宅0.29平方千米，北沟0.203平方千米。[1]1950年两村分别归联美二乡和联美三乡，1958年分为两个大队，1986年合改上北村委会，1992年分属沟湖、内新管理区，1999年又恢复村委会。[1]
经济与社会[edit]
耕地331亩，主种水稻；村民多外出广州、深圳、新疆等地做贸易，村内建筑企业共1家，小作坊计4家，设上宅、北沟小学各一所。[1]
荣誉方面：2017年10月，村里取得第一批广东省卫生村称号；2019年9月，进入「民主法治示范村（社区）」的省级创建名单；2022年1月，广东省乡村振兴局把它列为乡村治理示范村的创建单位（2021年度）；2026年1月，又被评为第二批「百千万工程」典型村。[1]
