历史沿革[edit]
明洪武元年（1368年）立寨，当地地势低洼、水草丛生，俗称“草尾”；寨中一条溪把村分成南北两半，在溪北的一半叫溪北。[1]解放前与美南社区同称草尾，解放初改称美光乡，1979年改溪北。[1]1950年隶属联美一乡，1958年称溪北大队，1983年起称溪北乡，1986年起改居委会，1992年起称管理区，1999年又恢复居委会。[1]
经济与社会[edit]
耕地843亩，种水稻和甘薯。[1]1983年起生产文胸，成为周边知名的文胸专业村，建筑企业共30家，小作坊计226家，产品为文胸内衣及配件辅料。[1]校舍在1993年扩建，2001年另址新建；诚德善堂设在社区内。[1]
2019年9月列入2018年度广东省「民主法治示范村（社区）」创建单位名单，2023年5月获“2022年广东省卫生村”称号。[1]
